Carla Cecilia Rodriguez Flores

Cecilia is a Peruvian-born and raised dancer, teacher and choreographer. She started dancing Afro-Peruvian at the age of 5 and learned Peruvian folklore during childhood. As a teenager, she immersed herself in theatre and other dance styles like pop, Brazilian Axe, belly dancing and commercial jazz. Salsa has been a big part of her life since she comes from a family of salseros, and she learned salsa casino and timba from the Cuban community in Lima.

She moved to Canada in 2016 and began her formal Latin training. She started teaching beginner salsa and bachata classes in 2017 at Salsa in the Six and co-choreographed a bachata performance team. In 2019, she joined Ayllu, a collaborative ladies' dance team and has been choreographing and performing with them since. In 2021, she started teaching her own salsa styling and shines classes.

She has also performed locally at the Hamilton Latino Festival and the TD Niagara Jazz Festival. In 2023, she completed the Tito Ortos' Salsa Certification course and has attended international salsa events like the New York and San Francisco salsa congresses. Constantly evolving, Cecilia trains with salsa luminaries and has shared the stage with icons like Tania Canarsa and Eddie Torres Jr.

Her mission goes beyond dance - to inspire, heal, and encourage self-expression through the transformative power of art.
