JAMIE SKYE

YOGA FOR DANCERS / HEELS

Jamie is a professional dancer, instructor, and choreographer from Toronto. She specializes in heels, jazz funk, and hip hop. Her dance journey began at the age of 3 at The Martha Hicks School of Ballet. While studying at Queen’s University, Jamie was Co-President of Flow Dance Club. She taught hip-hop classes and choreographed for recitals, performances, and competitions including O.U.C.H (Ontario Universities Competition for Hip Hop) and Queen’s Dance Battle. 

Between 2015-2017, Jamie was on Boss Dance Company under the direction of Leah Totten, The Girls Club with Tamina Pollack-Paris, she was featured in Monica Gold’s Empowerment video on YouTube, and worked with Luther Brown in the Opening Ceremony of the PanAm Games. Jamie started working as one of the receptionists at City Dance Corps which lead to her subbing and teaching some classes of her own. She trained with choreographer Chris Knowles and performed at the local CDC showcases and Fever After Dark.

In 2017, Jamie decided to make the big leap to Los Angeles, California to pursue her training and career as a professional dancer. She spent 4 years training and working in Los Angeles alongside some of the world’s most renowned choreographers. She began performing at local showcases such as Friday Night Raw, Club Jeté, and Carnival Choreographer’s Ball. She then transitioned from community dance to industry dance working as a dancer and choreographer for music videos, live performances with music artists, commercials, and more. 

Jamie trained with DNA (Developing Next Artists) under the director of Elm “Boogie” Pizarro, KreativMndz with Antoine Troupe and Kolanie Marks, the Cameron Lee Mentorship, and Galen Hooks’ Pro Intensive. Jamie is a 2020 alumni of The Kim Gingras Experience and you can spot her in Nicole Kirkland’s YouTube Video “Hot Hot” by Bree Runway.

She now resides in Toronto and seeks to bring her knowledge and experience from LA to the students at CDC. Jamie’s goal is to push her students and help them build confidence by getting a better understanding of their own bodies.
